What Makes Abstract Art "Good"

If you are a fellow abstract artist, then you know quite well that abstract art can be difficult for some people to understand. Occasionally, I get comments from people that don't know what makes a painting "good", so I thought that it was time to tackle what makes "good" art here.
None of these ideas are completely new to me, and that is what I think is so powerful: there is a (somewhat dynamic) criteria for what makes art "good". I have distilled many ideas down to fit into this podcast, and I would love to hear what you think I may have missed.
But what I think is most important for us as artists is that we work through our personal understanding of what makes "good" art. We don't always need to defend or explain ourselves, but I do think that we need to do the work for ourselves. Our art will be all the better for it.
