Automatic Drawing

I never listen back on my podcasts. Sometimes it takes me a few tries to get started, but once I'm on a roll I just keep on. With my first few episodes, I wrote out my script, edited out every little "ummm" and even had intro music. But then a lovely listener told me to talk more comfortably- just be myself- and I haven't looked back.
Automatic drawing is a bit like that. As an artist, we are all trying to find out voice, our marks, our shapes and lines. You can be careful or messy, fast or slow, colorful or subdued, but you have to find yourself. That is just who the rest of the world wants to see. The more yourself you are, the more interesting your art is.
Automatic drawing is like practicing scales on an instrument. The more you do it, the more you will play with ease and expression. The more comfortable you become, the easier it is to do without over thinking. So, happy drawing.
