People love to say that you should have a beginner's mind. It is like they think there is some magic sauce to being a beginner. But you know what? These people are generally NOT beginners. They know that they can do it. They have already succeeded. But when you are a beginner you don't always have the confidence to know that things will work out. It can be lonely, and discouraging, and hard. That is why so many people give up and stop creating.

I know that it can be hard because I began painting as an adult. And yes, there are some real advantages to being a beginner and experimenting and learning, but that isn't what this podcast is all about. It is about how to get through the tough days when you hate everything that you create and you just wish that you were as good as everyone else on Instagram with perfect feeds.

You are going to need to find the tricks that work for you to keep yourself going. You may need to train those close to you to help you through it, but you are the one responsible for keeping at it. I know that it is hard, and there are going to be times when you want to give up, but the only way to succeed is to keep going. Hopefully you will find some helpful ideas in this podcast. Then you can get back to work painting.

Best Wishes,

Liese

P.S. After completing this podcast I thought that I should re-record it and clean up some of my ramblings. You know, get to the point and sum everything up nicely. But then I knew that I would loose some of the points that I wanted to make- this is the raw version. I hope you like it.
