Once a painting is complete, it is SO important to protect your work. This is one step that many artists neglect, and it can make your work look really beautiful and professional- so don't ignore it!
In this episode, I get really practical and walk you through my three stages of finishing/varnishing work. I include lots of tips and tricks, but here are the three main steps and the products that I generally use:
1. Fixative- Minwax Water Based Polycrylic (or any art fixative). I also like Varathane, but my local hardware store doesn't carry it.
2. Isolation coat- I use GAC-100 by Golden, but any gel works.
3. Varnish- Golden Polymer Varnish with UVLS (Satin). Make sure that it has the UVLS!!
And that's it!
Have a great time painting,
Liese
